An Operating System is the software which communicates with the hardware of a computer system and functions as the intermediary between applications and the hardware, including peripheral devices such as a printer, a computer mouse or a keyboard. When you run software, it transfers requests to the OS using an API (Application Program Interface) and the contact is done via a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI). Just like a personal computer, web servers also feature an Operating System that acts as a host for all of the software installed on them, including script apps or server-side software such as a flash server, a VOIP server, and many others. A virtual machine can be set up on a physical one, so you'll be able to install a guest OS on it and have a different system environment in contrast to the physical server host OS.

Multiple OS in VPS Servers

Our VPS server solutions feature three Linux releases that you may choose from for the Operating System of your new hosting server - Debian, Ubuntu and CentOS. Aside from being cost-free, the OSs are very stable and safe and the main reason to offer all 3 of them is to ensure that you will be able to run any application that you'd like, since different pieces of software may have different requirements about the environment they can be used on. Each one of the three OSs is backed by a vast community of developers who have created thousands of software packages which you can set up and use on your VPS. Based on the Operating System which you choose, you will also be able to select between 3 different Control Panels to manage your hosting content. Of course, if you decide that you need some other OS, we can always reinstall the server with it. As an additional upgrade, we also provide weekly updates of the Operating System for maximum stability and security.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers

We offer three Operating Systems with our dedicated server packages - CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian. They are all different Linux distributions and we offer them not only because they're freely available so they won't increase the cost of your new hosting server, but also because they are exceptionally stable and secure. Each of them is supported by a large community of developers, so you'll be given the option to choose from countless software packages that you may install on your server in case the application that you would like to work with has specific requirements. The Operating System will also determine what internet hosting Control Panel you can use because the Control Panels that we offer run on specific OSs only and because we want to provide you with as much adaptability as possible, we offer a couple of OSs and multiple Control Panels. In case you choose a server with a given Operating System, we will change it upon request if it turns out that you'll need a different one. We can also keep the OS updated weekly as part of our optional Managed Services upgrade.
